Buzz 105 – Aluminum Buzz

This Buzz was made using the aluminum cut from a Diet Cherry Pepsi can… my drink of choice. I cut it square, taped it down to some foam and used a regular number 2 pencil to score the character into the metal.

This Buzz says, “I’m not the best Buzz on this site… but I’m recycled… and that counts for something.”

Buzz 104 – Pony Bead Buzz

<sarcasm>I love how some of my least favorite Buzzes take the longest create and are the most difficult.</sarcasm>

This is an original Buzz created from a bag of Pony Beads and some Plastic Lacing. This is the first time I have ever done such a thing and would like to try it again with what I’ve now learned. I made a ton of mistakes and I’m not thrilled with the arms… but pretty good for a first try.

This Buzz says, “These are sad, strangle little arms… and they have my pity.”

Buzz 103 – Macaroni Buzz

Reader and podcaster Mike Prince wrote:

“Fed [some mac and cheese] to our kids tonight and thought it would be cool to see a “preschool craft” style Buzz made from Mac & Cheese noodles.”

So I grabbed a paper plate, some tacky glue and a mess of macaroni and relived a part of my childhood that I don’t even remember.

This Buzz says, “What, no glitter?”

Buzz 102 – How To Draw Buzz Lightyear

I’ve been wanting to do a how-to for quite a while. I always had a love hate relationship with how-tos from Highlights and the local newspapers. It always seemed like they started out way too simple then skipped a bunch of steps to get to the finished product. It was almost like the artist wanted me to know that I could copy all I wanted… but I would never learn and possibly take his job some day. I understand the logic… in this economy it makes perfect sense.

This Buzz says, “I don’t have sad eyes!”

Buzz 101 – Index Card Buzz

This Buzz is being squished by the walls of the index card he was drawn on.

**Update**

I was very short on time yesterday and sketched out a Buzz with minimal effort. Though it technically counts as a daily Buzz… I was very dissatisfied with it. So I redid it. See below for the original sketch.

This Buzz says, “Shut down all the garbage compactors on the detention level!”

Buzz 100 – Cup Buzz Preview

Regular visitors to this site will no doubt be familiar with my “Solo Flight” cups in a fence project that I’ve been planning. Part of that process was raising funds to purchase the cups. Thanks to your help that part is done! So thanks! Next, before I committed the project to completion I wanted to mock-up using perler beads. I’m glad I did, got to perfect a couple of things.

We’re still looking for the perfect fence. I’m eyeing a soccer field that can be seen from the highway and a local elementary school who already uses cups in their fence to get out short announcements to parents. We’ll see.

This Buzz says, “It looks like I only have on leg!”

Oh, and by the way, this is Buzz 100… so say congratulations to me or something. Only 265 more to go!

Buzz 098 – Nesbitt No More

This is a little tribute to one of my favorite scenes in Toy Story 1… the tea party in Sid’s sister’s room. Buzz is missing an arm and sucking down Darjeeling with Marie Antoinette and her sister… and he’s not doing very well. Only a slap in the face with his own dismembered arm begins to bring him back to reality. Eventually the outfit he donned for the occasion is left behind and onward to adventure.

If you think about it… this is the first Buzz Lightyear tribute art that doesn’t actually feature Buzz Lightyear.

This Buzz says, “Tell me the hat looked good!”

Buzz 097 – Secret Cloud Formation Buzz

I’ve been busy painting a pre-school room at church. I was painting clouds yesterday and figured I’d make my secretive mark. You’ll have to use a bit of imagination on this one. If you can’t see it, just remember how Buzz looks with his hands on his hips and one foot to the side. I love that 900% of the people who go through this room will never notice him.

This Buzz says, “I can see clearly now the rain is gone…”
