It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No, it’s Batman!
This Buzz says, “First off, that’s Superman… secondly… I’m Buzz Lightyear. I come in peace.”

This Buzz happened so randomly. I was at church working elementary childcare. I pulled out some Lego bocks from a cabinet to keep the early kids busy. Soon I found myself sitting with them working on the chest piece of a Buzz Lightyear. The kids started asking if I was going to make a Buzz… I just said, “We’ll see.” and kept plugging away. After about 40 minutes I had created what you see here.
Note the attention to detail: all three buttons on our left, the big red button to the right, the yellow nameplate above. There weren’t any purple blocks so I used blue. Bet you didn’t even notice until I said something. The wings were the final touch… I laid all of the blocks down so they would be half the height as the rest of the figure. I feel it gave it a bit of a 3d look. If I had a chance to do it over again I would have made his dome half height as well.
Special thanks to Scotty, Austin, Nathan, Jewel and Jessica for their help and support. You guys make me feel like a genius.
This Buzz says, “I was made at church… so I’m automatically a religious artifact!”

If there’s ever been a competitor for the time I invest in my daily Buzz project, it’s been a little game called Minecraft. It’s surprisingly addictive. I couldn’t continue playing unless I could qualify the time… so I created this little Buzz Ligthyear skin for my Minecraft character. Now it’s like every minute I waste playing is half as useless as it was. Buzz makes everything easier to blow off. This Buzz says, “Nothing else matters but finding more coal!” If you want it for yourself… take it:
Many of you have asked what Buzz would look like out of uniform. Yesterday during church I sketched this out. The biggest question on my mind was, “What kind of hair would Buzz Lightyear have?” As as soon as I asked it the obvious answer came. A buzz-cut of course.
This Buzz says, “Hitting on you is something we frown upon on my planet. But we’re not on my planet… are we?”
I was at a benefit dinner for my child’s school. It wasn’t boring or anything… but I find it hard to sit still if I don’t keep my brain busy. So I drew this just before dinner was served.
This Buzz says, “Better at dinner than to be dinner.”
Apparently this weekend is about mixing Buzz Lightyear with Social Networking. It seems lately that all the uber geeks on Twitter have been recreating their profile icons in this 8 bit-ish format. I figured I’d do the same… except with the Buzz Lightyear twist that we’ve all grown to love.
This Buzz says, “I’m so cutting edge I bleed pixies… I mean pixels!”
I love the parodies on the default facebook profile picture that are out there. I figured some of us might want to see a Buzz Lightyear silhouette. So here it is.
This Buzz says, “Do you play Farmville? Frontierville? I play Awesesomeville!”
Note: I actually set this as my own facebook profile image. Friend me if you want.
Have you seen these Star Wars African Masks? They’re awesome! I had to do one of my own. I don’t know if mine looks African or Tiki… but I’d like to think African… well, more Disney-style African.
This Buzz says, “I’ve adapted and they seem to have accepted me into their culture.”
Remember the Mr. Men and Little Miss books? Yeah, I hardly do either. I remember there was a happy one… a messy one… probably a lazy one. I think I remember the Letter People more than I remember these guys… but anyway. Here’s a Buzz Lightyear drawn in the style of a Mr. Man character.
I would be amiss if I did not mention my inspiration for this one was from Seven Hundred’s 82 Heroes/Villains Drawn As Mr. Men.
This Buzz says, “Mr. Buzz? Years of Academy training wasted!!”
In stark contrast to yesterday’s disturbing Joker Buzz, today we have this super cute Toy Giraffe dressed as Buzz Lightyear. I stole the toy from my son and build his suit from Crayola Air-Dry Clay and painted it up with Apple Barrel paints from Micheal’s. It was a fun little project.
This Buzz says, “I think the word your looking for is Space Giraffe!”
