He seems like he’s thinking deep, meaningful and downright contemplative thoughts here. This Buzz happened when the kids got a mess of scratchboards from their Mother on a “no tv day” and I asked if I could do one too. J, my four-year-old son said it was “Awesome!”. So that’s something.

This Buzz says, “I don’t always allow my image to be inscribed into scratchboard… but when I do, that scratchboard is hippy rainbow colored.”

This project has been almost a year in the making… even though I did 90% of it in the last 24 hours. The coffin was purchased at a Michael’s last October. The poly clay buzz and satin liner was constructed today. I’m very pleased with how it turned out. I sketched him out in advance… and I’m sure it will be used as Buzz 243! 🙂

We had a special guest come play for the kids in my children’s church. She’s called Ukulele Mandi and she was great! So I had ukuleles on the brain when I set to sketch my Buzz on Sunday night.

This Buzz says, “Tiptoe through the tulips… or blast them with your laser!”

This is my second attempt at sculpting Buzz Lightyear out of sand… and probably won’t be my last. With each attempt I learn more about what not to do… and what tools I need to do what I should be doing.

I also made a sand castle.

Drew this in the doctors office today sitting across from a guy talking to himself. I felt like I was in a loony bin instead of a doctors office. This one was drawn and colored 100% with my iPad.

We got up at 5:30am Thursday morning to fly out to Kansas City. I had been working late the night before… till 4am. So in a cramped Air Tram flight I was feeling pretty miserable. I decided to convey that feeling through my favorite character of all time. This may be my be the best artwork I’ve ever done only because it perfectly expresses exactly how I was feeling.

This Buzz says, “I hate everything right now.”

I drew another Buzz in church this evening. I started off wanting to do a bubble-headed cutie style Buzz. He ended up a monkey. How do I know it’s a monkey? He has a tail. I learned that from a guy named Larry.

This Buzz says, “If it doesn’t have a tail it’s not a monkey it’s an ape.”

A lot of the Buzzes I do are “pose” guys. Today waiting in the doctor’s office I wanted to try to sketch something on my iPad with a little motion. Here’s what I came up with.

Another Sunday night service… another Buzz drawn during the sermon. Just to prove I can do this an pay attention… we talked about 1 Samuel 17, the story of David and Goliath. And how David is a type of Christ… meaning he fights and defeats Satan so that we can gain faith, bravery and the rewards of victory. Good stuff.
