I’ll be the first to admit… this is probably kind of gross. Especially considering the expiration dates on these are between 2002 & 2003. The only one still edible is the Campbell’s Fun Shapes. Though it were canned in 2002 they don’t go bad till 2105! The cereal and fun snacks seem fine… it’s the Pop Tarts that really feel nasty. Mostly because they’re so heavy and you can feel them shift around inside the box. They were purple and green to start with! I can’t imagine what they look like now.
These items were purchased during a phase I would call the “Buy Anything With Buzz” phase. There were a few years there where there weren’t a lot of real collectible things being produced yet. There were however a lot of little crap you could pick up for cheap. Pens, straws, stickers, magnets, bandaids and food items. I was a lot more rabid in my collecting back then. If I saw something with Buzz on it I bought it, no questions. These days it has to be something really unique and collectible.
Here’s some information about Buzz Blasts from mrbreakfast.com
Buzz Blasts Cereal emerged in supermarkets at the same time as two other Kellogg’s cereals – Mickey’s Magix and Hunny B’s. The trio of cereals resulted from a multi-year alliance between Kellogg’s and The Walt Disney Company.
In a press release announcing the cereals, Buzz Blasts were described as having “multi-colored flying saucer cereal shapes that ‘orbit’ around Buzz Lightyear, the aliens and rocket-ship graham pieces. A Buzz adventure continues on the back of the cereal box”.
And the original commercial that I had never seen until today.
