Grateful Kid Theme Song

I wrote the lyrics, purchased the music, and my friend Kevin Brown performed the song.

Grateful Kid Theme Song

I love half-days at school
swimming in a pool
staying up late, birthday cake
that my folks still love me when I make a mistake

Going to the beach, playing outside,
Going on vacation or a piggy-back ride
Running through the sprinkler in the front yard
Doing something tough that I thought was too hard.

These are things, these and so much more,
These are the things, I’m grateful for.
I wanted to say, in case I didn’t before
These are the things, I’m grateful for.

Riding my bike, the first day of school
teacher workdays and the last day too
Hugging my folks, my pets, and yet
still having hugs left for my grandparents

Really good dreams and Food and drinks
Playing dress-up or going to the beach
TV shows, my favorite colors
Getting good grades and my sisters and brothers

My life is so blessed, sometimes I forget
That none of these things happen on accident
Those who love me, they make these things happen.
That is why you and I shouldn’t take it all for granted.

Song: Zombie From Jesus

This song tells the story of a night when I scared the mess out of a young couple who were alone together playing worship music at the church. I shook the door and moaned like a zombie, and when I opened the door, you’ll never guess who was waiting for me.

Frozen Parody Song: Do You Wanna Cook Some Bacon

do-you-wanna-cook-some-bacon-frozen-parody

The illustrious Erik Fisher (@erikfisher), host of the Beyond the To-do List podcast, posted a tweet that someone needed to write a parody to “Do You Wanna Build A Snowman” from Disney’s Frozen called “Do You Wanna Cook Some Bacon”… so I did.

It’s the story of a baconaholic who drives his wife to divorce with is bacon fixation. Enjoy!

Lyrics:

Do you wanna cook some bacon?
I heard you say we’re having roast.
I realize that it doesn’t go
So could we just forgo,
have bacon, eggs and toast.

I really like it crispy
and golden brown
We really don’t need those sides…

Do you wanna cook some bacon?
I know you just now put the roast in.
[Go away moron!]
Okay bye.

Do you want to cook some bacon?
Yes Hon I know it’s 2 am
And normally I’d be willing to
do it myself but you
are better than I am

You seem to be offended
There’s no time for that
I’m timing you as you fry.
Yes your honor I’ll admit that
I drove my wife to make this call
But bacon made me do it sir
I like it more than her
Can’t eat her after all.

She used to make me breakfast
Now oatmeal and fruit
What was I gonna do?
I only asked her to make bacon
[Mrs. Baconski your divorce is granted]
Okay, bye.

Major Spoilers Podast Theme Song

majorspoilers

I made a theme song for the Major Spoilers Podcast. I did it like a year ago… but I never really posted it and made it available. Woo hoo!

Lyrics:

If I the X Ray vision of a super man
I could save a few bucks and stand
around and read through the covers of the comics on the stand
But although every other page
would be backwards I suppose
I could still read the evens and odds, well I don’t know

I guess I haven’t thought this all the way through,
Plus as soon as the comic book store guy knew,
He’d kick my butt out on the corner

What a Major Spoiler!

Oh wait! I think I’ve found a better way
If I was hulking green or gray
I could bust through that brick wall, take their comic books away
But then the little me would deal
With all the tanks and bombs and guns
Have you tried to read a series with all that going on?

I guess I need to rethink this plan,
How would I bag and board my comics with such huge hands?
Guess I already told ya…

What a Major Spoiler!!

If I was Stark raving rich like a man of iron
I might not be surprised to find
That I might actually have the hard-cold
To follow an entire storyline.
But would I really even need
To read up on all those escapades
I mean, who needs such distractions when your assistant’s such a babe?

But the downside is such a beast,
Being shot up in a Fun-vee in the Middle East
With a gang-sign-throwing-soldier…

What a Major Spoiler!!

Song: If My Wife Knew (She Would Slap Me)

Since we didn’t get to put out a show last week, I thought I’d give a little something extra. Here’s my first geek song, “If My Wife Knew”.

Lyrics are after the jump. Enjoy and share-alike!

If My Wife Knew

My wife is great she let’s me do the things I like to do,
but there’s always been a limit to the geekenies, it’s true.
I can have a podcast and I can draw picture online.
Even World of Warcraft would be fine.

The Wii is great she likes it to, the 360 and iPod too.
she doesn’t mind my friends online as long. As they don’t show it’s fine.
my twitter doesn’t bother her, my skype instead of call.
But there’s some things she won’t allow at all.

If my wife knew she would slap me.
If my wife knew she would slap me.

I’ve never dressed up as a Jedi, though it is something I’d like to try.
I’ve never painted a figurine, played Warhammer back in a comic book store scene
I would like to call myself by my online name you see
Mr. NLCast your table is ready.

I’ve never participated in a flash mob, never worked EB as my job.
I’ve never been to a convention, not E3, not New Media, not Dragon.
I’ve never watched all 6 Star Wars movies in a row,
But I take my lappy in the bathroom when I go.

I try to hide my secret shame. I’m not ashamed but I should be
When she sees me dressed like C3-PO I can only hope
that she won’t laugh at me, just long enough to leave.
These aren’t the droids she’s married to you see.

I’m to far gone it’s not my fault my wife knew what she did,
when she settled down with this here geek and had a couple kids.
I’m hoping that they’ll look like her but become geeks themselves.
It’s looking good but still to soon to tell.

Geek Loves Nerd Theme Song Lyrics

SOG Nothes writes:

Hello Geek <3’s Nerd,
First, GREAT show that you do!
Pastor Kennison, I really like the song that you sing at the beginning of the show. However, I am having a hard time understanding the words, at times. Could you send them to me?
Thank you in advance.
SOG Nothes

Thanks for writing… here goes:

GLN Theme Song

Geek loves nerd, Nerd loves geek
At least she did late last week.
I haven’t asked lately because
She’s still living here and that’s more than I deserve.

She has a gold band I gave her on her left ring finger
And so do I and that’s enough I figure.
At least she hasn’t figured out I stink.
We don’t have much in common, just our kids and our address.
But we get along find and that’s what I’m impressed with.
So join us for our podcast every week.

Geek loves nerd… yeah!
