We got up at 5:30am Thursday morning to fly out to Kansas City. I had been working late the night before… till 4am. So in a cramped Air Tram flight I was feeling pretty miserable. I decided to convey that feeling through my favorite character of all time. This may be my be the best artwork I’ve ever done only because it perfectly expresses exactly how I was feeling.
This Buzz says, “I hate everything right now.”
I drew another Buzz in church this evening. I started off wanting to do a bubble-headed cutie style Buzz. He ended up a monkey. How do I know it’s a monkey? He has a tail. I learned that from a guy named Larry.
This Buzz says, “If it doesn’t have a tail it’s not a monkey it’s an ape.”
A lot of the Buzzes I do are “pose” guys. Today waiting in the doctor’s office I wanted to try to sketch something on my iPad with a little motion. Here’s what I came up with.
This Buzz says, “I’m not actually punching anything!”
Another Sunday night service… another Buzz drawn during the sermon. Just to prove I can do this an pay attention… we talked about 1 Samuel 17, the story of David and Goliath. And how David is a type of Christ… meaning he fights and defeats Satan so that we can gain faith, bravery and the rewards of victory. Good stuff.
This Buzz says, “I’m not afraid of that Giant. I’ll just blast him with my laser!”
I was playing with the kids the other night and they took all the good shapes. I was stuck with the hexagon. I decided to make the most Buzz-like thing I could from scratch using that shape. This is what I came up with.
This Buzz says, “Perler beads are hard to do with fat fingers. So be impressed!”
Have you ever heard of the CubeDude lego figures by Angus MacLane? They’re very original and very cool. He did a Buzz Lightyear and I duplicated it just by looking at photos. The only difference between his and mine is the 2×2 tile on Buzz’s head is a brick rather than a flat tile. I looked high and low all over the internet to find a purple 2×2 tile without finding anything. I even tried contacting Angus himself to find out where he got his. If anyone knows where to find one, let me know!
This Buzz says, “And you thought my head was big before…”
I drew this Buzz last night during a really good church service. I can draw and listen at the same time. It actually helps me listen better when I’m sketching.
Unlike my first iPad Buzz, I didn’t have a stylus on this one. Just used my finger. Took about 45 mins from start to finish. Used three layers: background, color and outlines.
This Buzz says, “I thought you were done making these?”
I wish I could draw stuff like this on purpose instead of randomly.
This Buzz says, “Heerrrrrrrr.”
Saw this one in my head yesterday and drew it out.
This Buzz says, “I say.”
I wanted to try some freehand lettering of Buzz’s name… it turned into this over a couple of days.
This Buzz says, “I belong on a Trapper Keeper!”
